Our Student Program
Summering at Goodmans
The Goodmans summer program offers a unique experience, tailored to individual students' needs. More than merely an abridged version of articling, the program provides mentors for one-on-one guidance, ensuring students witness the life of a Goodmans lawyer firsthand. You'll engage in a variety of activities, including attending client meetings and court proceedings, contributing ideas, working on substantive matters and actively participating in firm life.
We also know the key to a happy, successful, and gratifying work life is a supportive and friendly environment – exactly the kind you’ll find at Goodmans. Here you will build and foster lasting relationships with peers and mentors through day-to-day work and social activities designed to strengthen those bonds. By summer's end, you'll have a solid understanding of the practical application of law, a sense of what it is like to practice law at Goodmans, and a set of new relationships
that may very well last a lifetime.

Articling at Goodmans
You have unique goals and interests. That’s why at Goodmans you will play an active role selecting the areas of practice that are right for you. Choose from rotations in Business law, Real Estate law, Restructuring, Tax, Litigation, and Administrative law. Regular meetings with the program directors will allow you to continuously assess whether your rotation choices are best fulfilling your evolving needs.
Mentors within each section will provide ongoing feedback as well as two formal reviews per rotation to ensure you’re progressing and receiving a well-rounded experience. Monthly lunches with our firm Chair, Dale Lastman, will not only keep you updated on firm-wide progress but also provide a platform to address inquiries and engage in meaningful discussions. In addition, practical experience is paired with a comprehensive legal education program that covers a wide range of topics and basics. This helps you speed up your learning process, allowing you to confidently handle significant responsibilities sooner.
